navy & ivory in 渋谷7th floor

3/15、山形で大人気のバラードユニット「navy & ivory」のライヴを見に渋谷7th floorへ。宮古島出身の下地正晃さん（ヴォーカル）と島根出身の吾郷三木生さん（キーボード）の２人組。もともと東京で活動していたが、2001年に山形ラジオでオリジナル曲「指輪」が放送されたところ大反響となり、山形の各種イベントで引っ張りだこ状態に。3/25に初の全国流通となるミニアルバムCD「アカイイト」をリリース予定で、今回はいわばレコ発（プレ？）東京凱旋ライブ。

会場は立ち見が出るほどの盛況ぶり（男女比4:6）。何年も応援してきた東京の友人知人や、山形から駆けつけたファンなどで会場に熱気が充満。オープニングアクトはクロスオーバーというユニット（女性ボーカル＆男性ギター）。ブルージーかつソウルフルなボーカルが魅力的。池袋で路上ライブをしていたときに下地氏に声をかけられて知り合いになったそうだ。

そしていよいよnavy & ivoryの出番。なんだかちょっと緊張気味か。いつものようにユニゾンの挨拶「今日は来ていただきありがとうございました」で始まるが、最後の「ました」の部分がいまいちあわず照れ笑い。

曲は「NEWS」「キーホルダー」と続き、卒業の季節と言うことで「卒業写真」（ユーミン）を。吾郷氏いわく「私が作った卒業の歌もあるのに、どうしても卒業写真歌うっていうんですよ」と下地氏にツッコミ。とはいえ下地氏の情感ある声が、おなじみの「卒業写真」を新鮮な情景の浮かぶ歌に聴かせてくれてナットク。

彼らの代表曲「指輪」もやはり素晴らしい。結婚式当日に彼女に想いを語るというシチュエーションの歌で、特にラストが感動的。聴きながら涙を流すお客さん多数。かくいう私も不覚にも目頭が熱くなってしまった。

彼らの歌はいわば普段着のバラード。リアルな日常のなかの恋愛模様を描いた歌が秀逸。曲作りをほとんど担当している吾郷氏と、その歌を情感たっぷりに歌い上げる下地氏とのコンビは、なかなかイケている。歌だけでなく漫才のようなMCも聴きどころ。ハズすことも多いが(笑)。

アンコールはお客さんのリクエストで「最愛」を。ところが途中で感極まって歌えなくなってしまう下地氏。すると、応援するようにファンたちが合唱する。最後の挨拶では吾郷氏も涙声。上京して苦節10年、ついにレーベルを通しての念願のCDリリースと言うことでファンも暖かい拍手を贈っていた。次回の東京ライブは4/4に同じ7th floorにて。（ちなみに今日のライブ直前にFMチャンプラに電話出演していたらしい。今度チャンプラの比嘉さんに確かめてみよっと。）

In my own experience, I have been amazed to see how unrealistic are the bases for political opinion in general. Only rarely have I found a person who has chosen any particular political party - democratic or totalitarian - through study and comparison of principles. by texas holdem
